As a chaotic but lovable living artist, he excelled in Helmut Dietl's TV series "The ordinary madness", as ship's cook on the side of Odessi Pumuckl he appreciated the children. Now the big Munich actor Towje Kleiner had died. He was 63 years old.
Towje played Maximilian Glanz in the Helmut Dietl's cult series of that name in the late seventies, at his side appeared such stars as Helmut Fischer and Barbara Valentin. He acted alone for his contribution to the wonderful television series “Little Towje” for which he will be remembered. Towje died unexpectedly during the night Monday at the age of 63 years. A spokesman for the Jewish community in Munich on Monday confirmed a report in the daily newspaper "tz".
Born in Bavaria Kleiner made his stage debut in Israel. In Germany he seen as Ahmed in the "Munich Stories" by Dietl, in the detective series "Soko 5113" or the Bayerische Rundfunk series "The Salt Baron". He also served as ship's cook Odessi the new boyfriend of Pumuckl, as embodied by the successor Gustl Bayrhammer champion Eder.
In an interview with the "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" he described his work in 2008 as wonderful. He did not want to live again but: "I always hear that life goes by so fast, but that misses the point that it’s not so fast when you look back, and that happens a lot, especially in my life..."
